Ferrari F40 kit speedometer does not work, help?
We have one, Autometer speedo, and a V6 engine, 3800, all indicators of work except for the speedometer and tacometer. Suggestions? I store owner, and have extensive experience in construction machinery of all kinds. The first thing I would do is take a hit a look at the wiring harness. I guess it is that of an enterprise, without pain. Many times this can be caused by a problem of grounding, or rather the lack of soil. Look for a strip of land that runs on the engine to the body / frame, and has a floor going from the battery into the chassis. As this is a fiberglass body, then everything should be grounded through the frame. A driver earth must pass the battery on the frame, or so the speedometer and the tachometer to work, should be sized for such meetings Image or no complete circuit. If you use an ohmmeter to the wire ignition signal from the tachometer, and the coil pickup in the transmission the speedometer, then that leaves only one field to complete the circuit. It is unlikely that these two indicators would be a bad thing at a time, I bet the lack of land is the culprit. Many problems of this type is caused by a loose, corroded or missing (the land) of land in the indicator in question. The sensors of these indicators signal is actually a generator, and consists of a coil and a magnetic field (Pick-up) reluctor. Using a setting on the multimeter to the lowest value (in AC-DC only) should be able to test the speedometer sensor output signal when the vehicle's wheels are turning. There should be a signal that increases the speed of the output shaft of the transmission. If the signal is not there, then either the sensor (generator) is bad, or sprocket is not connected with the pickup coil. Since stress is so small that it generates sensor transmission, it is not easy for this signal to the counter, or in most cases, the soil is not present in the counter to operate. You Contact Autometer a diagram of how these indicators should be linked, and the son with a trace continuity counter (ohms) at the source and earth () (-) Ground. It could be indicators are bad, but as I said, it is unlikely that both are wrong at the same time. Happy to help, good luck!
