Audi’s Powerful Trio Premiers in Melbourne
Audi unveiled its powerful trio – the TT Roadster, S3 and the A6 at the Melbourne International Motor Show on Friday, March 2. The models are scheduled to go on sale in Australia later this year.
Joerg Hofmann, Audi’s managing director, said the company is naturally thrilled to be able to introduce key new cars to the Australian market ahead of their actual launch date. “Since its introduction to Australia late last year, the new Audi TT has been a huge hit with Australian consumers. The new model is in high demand and we have buyers clamoring for their car to arrive,” Hofmann said.
He added, “We expect that the TT Roadster will be similarly popular. It will officially arrive in June 2007, however we will use the Melbourne unveiling as an opportunity to kick off our pre-sales campaign for this new model.”
The Audi TT Roadster will be launched in June. It will feature two engines including a 2.0 TFSI, and a 3.2 V6 quattro and these are priced at $77,500 and $92,900, respectively. Both engines feature the popular S-tronic transmission mated to an Audi cold air intake to boost performance of the roadster.
The new Audi S3, priced at around $66,000, is expected to arrive in Australia in June. The vehicle is equipped with a 2.0 TFSI engine with 188kW and a sporty 6-speed manual transmission. In the motor show, the automaker will showcase the brand new highlight color for the S3 – the Solar Orange.
The motor show will also flaunt the long-awaited Audi A6 allroad quattro successor. The A6 allroad quattro, which is scheduled to arrive in Australia in May, will be seen for the first time at the motor show. The vehicle is equipped with the 3.0 TDI engine. The Audi A6 allroad Quattro will be priced at around $106,000.
Also displayed at the motor show is the Audi R8 sportscar, which will be officially introduced to the auto market in September. The Audi R8 is priced at around $250,000 to $300,000.
Hofmann believes the line-up at the Melbourne International Motor Show is further proof of Audi’s growing popularity in Australia. “Thanks to our record sales in 2006, we are in a strong position to secure a range of highlight cars to continue to showcase the brand in a high-profile way in Australia,” he noted. “These new models will contribute to our sales growth target of more than 10 percent in 2007.”
