The stupidity of the stupidity of Major League Baseball payrolls

Richie Sexson Mariners unfortunate Seattle is just the latest example of the stupidity of the romance of the majors with high-priced superstars whose production is pathetic.
Ay Seattle Mariners, whose 37-58 record through Sunday (7-13-08) in the West Division of the American League was tied for second worst in major league, 20 games behind league leading the huge Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Los Angeles, who are 57-38.
Only the Washington Nationals Near the National League has a worse record a 36-60, 16 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies, the leaders of the division from 1952 to 1944.
Padres in the West Division of the National League game with the Mariners 37-58 mark, but the Padres were 10 games behind the first division of the Arizona Diamondbacks, who sport a 47-48 mark (.495 winning percentage). The Diamondbacks have nothing to write home to mother about, but browsers are even more terrible.

Raul Ibanez is the perfect example. He was taken by the Mariners in the 36th round of 1992 amateur draft. The Ibanez Mariners would be the big boys, give it a couple of weeks to prove its value and then, unhappy that does not break, returning to the minors.
