RENAULT MEGANE STARTING PROB?
I have an x reg 2000 megane sport which wont start it has no dash lights on, the electric windows wont go up although there is plenty power in the battery its like the immobiliser has come on and i dopnt know how to get it off The key fob hasnt worked for months but up until today ive had no probs with car CAN ANYONE SHED SOME LIGHT AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM Thankyou
it sounds like a problem with the cars body computer called a uch. This is located behind the fuse box and it does control the drivers side electric window, immobiliser, etc. The uch is about £300 and will need to be coded to the car by a renault dealer. So to try and save some money, the first thing to do is check all the fuse’s. Remove the cars battery, because between the battery and the inner wing there is a small fuse box and some wiring connectors. The fuse box has a habit of corroding as do the wiring connectors. Try removing the fuses to check them as the fuse blades corrode away where they plug in to the fuse box. If they are corroded the fuse box is available from renault, as are the fuses. Check the small white wiring connector, if the terminals inside it have gone blue the best thing to do is cut the connector out (one wire at a time) and bypass it by soldering the wires and insulating them. Hopefully one of these will be the cause of the problem.
