Can a 25 year old recent grad, making $450k/yr before taxes lease a lamborghini and buy $2.5MM house?
This is an argument I’m having with a friend. I claim that with little significant credit history, co-signers (i.e rich parents) and after taxes a bank won’t just hand you a loan at such a young age based on your future income/potential. My friend thinks that if the grad is a cardiologist, for example, banks and lamborghini dealerships will take that into account and give it to him anyway. I don’t think he’s totally wrong but definitely wrong about a $2.5MM house on mortgage AND a leased Lamborghini in your first year after you’ve reached that income level. I can understand a nice suburban house with a BMW/Mercedes maybe. Please tell me who is right or wrong.
It is a dumb and pointless argument but that’s what makes it so great. Just to be clear – neither of us have this kind of money. We’re just college kids having a typical semi-intellectual conversation about finance and income. Is that wrong? Sorry, then.
