How do I convert my RC into rear-wheel drive?

I have a Tamiya TL-01 R/C car that was bought as a Subaru AWD Impreza. It has a propshaft running down the centre to propel the front wheels. Will removing the propshaft make it rear-wheel drive? And will I lose any sort of power from it?

I am new to the hobby and quite keen on getting this thing to go sideways! I have rubber and foam tyres, which are better for drifting?

You will not lose power when you remove the propshaft and gear assembly to make your AWD to RWD. You may sacrifice a very small amount of traction so when you start learning to drift, you are more likely to perform donuts. Try in AWD first.
Best tyres are the hard, glossy, slick plastic tyres – they have very little grip and plenty of slip, just what you want to spin them wheels and move sideways
