Why and how Bugatti / Volkswagen have a loss on each Veyron?
I guess they sell in a slight decrease moving to show its Veyron units, so that as they are relaunching the brand and they can make money on future models. Am I right or is there more?
I think there is more to this than the eye, have a single brand as newer technology means Bugatti design, things that later may be extended to the bottom line of cars such as Audi and Volkswagen. Its more than a showcase for brand management, it will lose money on each Veyron built at the beginning of the Bugatti / Volkswagen "partnership", but once the plant cost was paid, it becomes a question of creating just enough to ensure a profit on low volumn, but keeping the "magic" of the request and convenience to life. The models of the Italian luxury sports makers of Ferrari and Lamborghini have done very well for many years to build and manage very small quantities of vehicles, but to profit in each one. Volkswagen will do the same with the Veyron and its successor models if they can establish and manage the opportunity to brand properly. Ferrari as you know, has a father and so compnay Lamborghini and development costs of engineering extended to more "common" that engineering models is a success. A good example is the paddle shifter, "a direct development of the races, now in vehicles instead of the town. The engineering costs were borne by the races and exclusive sports cars, which demonstrated that can work, which was leaked to the street standard vehicle.
